The Storm before the Calm....

Greetings yall....thought I better start the update this afternoon in case I fall out later this evening from exhaustion!

We got a few new goodies in this week that I'll bring in... for this weekend only...and then they'll be heading over to the new location...

Hilda's Holiday Brew
by Sandy Gervais
Price...$8.95 (WoW price $8.05)

This is a really cute holiday pattern and we do have the brown ticking and the 22ct. fine ariosa in stock that is needed to do this project!

The little thimble purses from Country Stitches finally arrived and you need to read this next part carefully....these are Limited Edition patterns/kit and I'm not exactly sure when....but there will be a point in time that these will no longer be available because of the availability of the clasps. So if you're thinking you really want one of these...act fast! They are awesome!! (These are worked on 40 ct. linen...we have the 40 ct. confederate gray in stock from Weeks Dye Works...which would work great for these!)

Thimble purses...5 different designs...comes with one purse clasp in each pattern...$12.95
(WOW price $11.65)

The next installment of "Loose Feathers" by Blackbird Designs arrived this week! Remember, we are selling these individually, so you are not required to purchase all of the club patterns....

"Sarah's House" by Blackbird Designs
$15.95 (WOW price $14.35)

Here's a picture of the back of the pattern...showing the antique sampler that inspired the projects in this booklet....

We are sold out of the August Word Play pattern right now...but should get them soon...I'll let you know when they arrive!

**THIS IS THE LAST WEEKEND THAT THE WEEKS DYE WORKS AND GENTLE ARTS FLOSSES WILL BE AT THE FAIRGROUNDS LOCATION!**

It's time to start moving over the rest of the patterns, flosses and wool after this weekend!! Grand opening is just around the corner!

And speaking of Grand openings....

Grand Opening for our new location in Fuquay will be Saturday, August 11th from 10a - 6p, and Sunday, August 12th from 12p - 5p!
Class models will be up at the shop when we open that Saturday, and Sunday will be our "Meet the Teachers" day! If you come in on Sunday and sign up for a class (or classes), we will offer special discounts on the materials! So mark your calendar!!
Address for the new shop is over on the right hand side bar....and the phone is now working!

And on a final note....this chapter has ended....my rug is officially done...finally bound and ready to hang (or walk on). You can't imagine how glad I am to be moving on to another project soon...but I will say, she is a beauty and will be hanging in the shop...at least for a while!

That's it for now! Try and stay cool and come see us if you get the chance!!

Friday once again....

Yikes, it's Friday again and I'm just now updating the the blog...

The shop over in Fuquay is coming along...but we've hit a couple of road blocks and last night we made the decision that we'd have to push the grand opening weekend forward a week to

 Saturday, August 11th...

A couple of days ago...we walked upstairs and found the ceiling in the wool room almost ready to come down and water dripping from the light fixture...come to find out, it was the emergency drip pan above in the attic and now we are getting an entire new air conditioning unit for the upstairs. That's all happening next week sometime. So until that is done and the repairs are all made, we can't get anything going upstairs....it's like an oven up there!

On the lighter side...merchandise is showing up almost daily and all of the fabric bolts and shelves will be in by later today!
So there are no more bolts of fabric and misc. fat quarters at the fairgrounds! In two weeks, we'll be moving the floss, patterns and wool over...so if you're needing something right now...you've got a little more time!

One thing that did come in this week is Maggie Bonanomi's new book, "A Day at Sunny Brook"....one word description here....FANTASTIC!!

19 projects in all....$26.95
(WOW price $24.25)

Here is a picture of the contents page...(that background picture is part of the bee skep fireplace screen...we'll do that for sure as a class/kit!)

(Friday evening...)

Meant to tell yall...we received our 2nd batch of "In the Meadow" books by Blackbird Designs. If you missed out last weekend and still want to see (or buy) one..they'll be in the shop this weekend!

That's it for right now...have a great weekend!

Also...After a year of waiting...Rigby sent us wool cutters and I have one right now still available.
It's the Model D machine...2 heads...and you can customize it just about any way you want! We usually stock these with a #6 and #8 head. They've gone up a little in price, but still way cheaper than the Bee-line Townsend or Boliver...this one runs $300.

HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE 4TH OF JULY!!

(Updates coming later in the week!)

I'm going to have to give my UPS man a bonus! (updated Friday evening)

Things are beginning to really rock and roll around here and the new shop....and my poor UPS man is getting his daily workout with all the boxes he's delivering to us for sure!

Here's what's come in so far...

125+ pages...great home tour and garden special!

And I'll fill yall in tomorrow on all the new fat quarter packs, charm packs and layer cakes that came in for all the new fall Moda lines! I was in "fabric overload" this afternoon!

(Friday evening)

I had to show these next two pictures....all you animal lovers out there will appreciate them...along with my quick little tale...

Some time ago, we had this yellow tabby cat roaming the area...he'd sit out under one of my bird feeders patiently waiting for a meal...which I hated to see! So...I decided that if I fed him..he'd quit going after the birds..which sort of worked.
Then one day...I look out and I'm thinking...that does not look like the same yellow tabby...and the closer I looked, I realized we had another little tabby, but this one was a mama with FIVE of the cutest little yellow fluff balls you've ever seen...all running around on the porch! The boy is really sweet and will come up to me to get a pet when he's here...but mom and the kids are still running. I'm hoping they'll finally warm up to me a bit so I can get them to the vets and get their shots and find them all good homes!

In the meantime...we've got a new visitor on the scene...this little baby possum has been back several times now and doesn't mind us or anyone else he has to share the food with....

Welcome to Wild Kingdom!

We took in charm packs and layer cakes of the some of the new lines coming out in the fall from Moda...
Warmth by Howard Marcus
Double Chocolate by 3 Sisters
Cinnamon Spice by Blackbird Designs
Chateau Rouge by French General
Old Glory Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings
Metropolitan Fair by Barbara Brackman

We also took in a couple of the fat quarter packs in these lines to break apart, including one from Sandy Gervais called "Everlastings"...

Bolts on the lines we purchased won't be in until Sept - Oct.....but this is your chance to purchase some of the new fabric ahead of time!

Back in stock....brown corded lights for the tobacco stick trees and the red*white*blue bunting just in time for the 4th of July! A big order of votive candles came in as well...and a few new primitive findings tucked in along the way!

Have a great weekend and a very happy Fourth of July! Come see us if you get the chance!

(Updated Friday evening...)

Evening to all!

I'll be updating the blog here in the next day or so with what's new this week....

But right now, I just wanted to tell yall...don't call the new number for the shop in Fuquay yet...it's not up and running until middle of July!!
If you call the number, it will give you a different number to call and the poor little lady at the other end of the phone is tired of getting calls about the quilt shop!

Right now, we are planning our grand opening for the first Saturday in August!

Coming soon! Blackbird has a new book coming out...should be here in the next week or so..."In the Meadow"! $27.95 for the book...WOW members, if you pre-order and pay for the book, your cost will be $23.76 ( a better discount than your regular club price!)

We sold out for JoAnn Mullaly's new book, "Folk Branches" last weekend, but I have more copies in now! If you didn't get one...hurry in fast...lots of great projects and tons of ideas!

I've been "tweaking" the new class schedule for the shop and it's just about ready to hand out! Cross your fingers for next weekend...it should be up on the blog and we should also have hand-outs for the shop! Never a dull moment in August and September for sure! Some fun new clubs, 2 different stitching groups, a rug-hooking group, beginning quilting and a bunch of really fun wool applique, painting, and technique classes! A little something for everyone for sure! So stay tuned.....

And we'll be happy dancing all week with the arrival of fat quarter bundles, charm packs and layer cakes from several of Moda's new fabric lines that will actually arrive in early fall. This is will be a great "sneak peak" way of getting your hands on some of the new fall lines early! I can't wait!!!

That's it for tonight....a few new treats on the home decor side are coming in...with a bunch arriving next week! Come see us if you get out and about!

Have a happy weekend!

We'll have kits available the first weekend of June...AND...we will most likely offer it as one of our summer classes when we move into our new location (more about that later!).
