Happy August to everyone!

Can you believe it's already the 8th month of the year?? Fall is just around the corner with our Fall Open House coming up on August 31st, and we just can't wait for that!

In the meantime, we're throwing in a little "birthday" celebration this Saturday at the shop. It's our "official" 1 year birthday of being in our new place in Fuquay Varina.

Nothing big and flashy (we're saving that for the open house)....just some homemade treats and lemonade along with a 10% store wide sale (Wow members will get 15% off)!

We'll also be doing a little charity work for Wake County's SPCA.....bring in a donation to help out their organization and you'll be entered into our drawing at the end of the day for a $25 gift certificate to our shop!

Quiltmania Magazines puts out an issue called "Simply Vintage"....which has always been in French...until now!

Starting with issue #8, the magazine will be printed in English and available through our distributor.....yea!!

These always look like such great projects...we're very excited that we'll be able to start ordering these issues!

This Thursday is Terrific Thursday at all of the shops participating in this years Quilt Carolina event! This will be the first day that you can purchase your passports (and get them stamped!).

Be sure and come by the shop....we'll be open until 7pm!

If you purchase your passport with us from Thursday, August 1st - Sunday, August 4th, you'll receive box of treats and coupons!

This year's theme is "What's Cooking" and we've picked PUMPKINS as our shop theme!

Starting Thursday, you'll be able to see our exclusive wool runner that I designed for the event this year and we will begin taking orders for kits. (There will be a limited number made.)

Refreshments will be served and we'll have in-store specials on Thursday only!

We're taking names for kits now...which will be ready mid-September, right before the shop hop! In order to get the pattern, you'll need to buy the passport ($15). Kits are $38.95 and there is a limit on how many we are making. The project got rave reviews at "Terrific Thursday" yesterday!

Don't forget, if you are still wanting to purchase a passport and receive one of our fun handmade treat boxes, you can do that through this weekend! (Those boxes were another BIG hit!!)

Some new Jo Morton fabrics came in this week...along with a re-order on the Wickerweave fabric (used in our chicken quilt....patterns will be in next week for that!) and

I haven't snapped just some "antique" shop pics lately...here's a few I took today...

one thing we just took in last night...

FANTASTIC North Carolina Pie Safe...fresh from a Wilmington estate. All yellow pine with cut square nails. Beautiful urn shaped legs with it's original tins. Most likely, made by a professional cabinet maker in the Wilmington area just after the Civil War. Very well made and very sturdy...soldier blue milk paint. (The picture doesn't do this little beauty justice!)

Everyone has been taking a little time off here and there doing the "beach thing" and the "mountain thing"...but we're getting back into a groove and gearing up for some fun upcoming events!


This year we will be participating in the "Quilt Carolina" Tour of Shops
September  18th - 22nd, 2013
There are 16 total shops on the tour this year...10 in the Raleigh area (which we are a part of) and 6 in the Triad area!
Kick Off Party is Thursday, August 1st!
