COMING IN NEXT WEEK....
Shawn has been working on this fantastic Randolf County, NC Jelly Cupboard.
Circa 1860, it was made by a highly skilled country cabinet maker in a very "folky" country empire style. Constructed of yellow pine and poplar with original hardware, large square nails, mortise and pegged joints, and hand planed & chamfered panels. Case and drawers are 100% original with no replacements or major repairs. When we found the piece, the owners had turned it into part of a bedroom set and had painted it 1940's pink. Needless to say, that was no way to leave this wonderful old piece, so Shawn finished and aged it in Soldier Blue milk paint.
(I'll post a better picture over the weekend...it's looking a little too "gray" in these pics!)
