We'll  have class space that we've been desperately needing and a cozy atmosphere for all of our customers to enjoy! More fabric, more stitchery, more wool, and more antiques and stuff! Happy Memorial Day!!

A Day to Remember those who have fought...

Hello to all! Before this week gets away from me, I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

We will be open both Saturday and Sunday...the weather looks to be a bit on the hot and muggy side (typical summer weather for these neck of the woods, ya know!), but we'll be nice and cool inside...so come out and visit us if you can!

The summer issue of A Primitive Place magazine arrived today...fantastic as always! If you need us to save you one...let me know...they usually go pretty fast! $9.95 for the issue (WOW discounts apply!)

As soon as I get a moment I'll take a picture of the real thing! You can't imagine how great it is in person...and fast and EASY to do! It's the perfect size for a summer picnic throw or cuddle up on the porch swing....our size is 46" x 77". We'll have kits available the first weekend of June...AND...we will most likely offer it as one of our summer classes when we move into our new location (more about that later!). Here's a link to Andover's website where you can find the free pattern download...

(This link will take you to all of the free downloads...they are in alphabetical order..so just go to "Garden Gate Plaids"...

Tomorrow is "wisdom tooth day" at the dentist...one of them has to go! So this will probably be all the updating this week...(unless something wonderful comes in by Friday!)

Has it been that long?? (Updated Friday night)

Oh my gosh.....it has!!

I'm not sure where the time has gone...but please forgive me for being a BAD blogger! First, it was Liberty....then it was Cameron....then the computer had to go in for service...and today we finally received the word that it's....well....."terminal" to put it mildly! Sooooo.....tomorrow it's "go get a new computer day"!
I'm posting this quick note on my laptop....but it doesn't have my email list installed on it....so hopefully yall will come looking for me and read this note!

Lots of new wonderful textured wools have come in and are now in the shop!  They will be on on the selling blog here soon!

The June word play pattern from Country Stitches is now in! $8.95 for the pattern (WOW discount applies!) And if you are needing the floss, we now carry the entire line of Gentle Arts floss at the shop!
(I know....it's about time!!)

(Friday evening...)

Just a quick update...the new computer is up and running...but all of my stuff (which there is ALOT) has not all been totally loaded yet...so I can't send out an email tonight....hopefully yall will just come take a look to see what's going on!

SIMPLE LIFE Magazine did arrive today and will be in the shop for this weekend! Woohoo!

Also...Vickie just brought over a basket full of wonderful summer handmades...there is the coolest Uncle Sam and Betsy doll you've ever seen.....she's gonna have to make more of those for sure...Uncle Sam has been "talkin' to me" ever since he came in the door!

For you knitters out there especially....Fiberfest is going on over at the Jim Graham building this weekend...I've not had a chance to go see it first hand...but I did hear there are some awesome vendors with hand-dyed yarns for sale.  (I think I'm glad I'm not a knitter...that could be dangerous!)

We brought in some great antiques...circa 1840-1870 GA. blanket chest in it's orig. brown and blue paint...a huge trencher that would look great on someone's harvest table...plus a few small goodies...come and take a look!

Who's that in this picture??? (updated Friday afternoon)

It's a wonder I get anything done sometimes! This week I dyed wool for two days straight...so I took a bunch of the wools out of one amoire and tossed them on the bed so that I could get a bunch of it cut for dying....and guess who decides to make it her bed! Of course...I didn't see her at first until I tried to move a piece of wool and out came the claws trying to stop me!

Ah ha! There she is! (And looking positively evil to boot!)

I'm not sure how much updating I'll get to do on the blog tomorrow...this dang computer is fixing to go back to the Geek Squad (per their suggestion) cuz it's running soooooo slow! So.....here's what I know so far:

Our big ol' order of all the Gentle Arts hand dyed flosses arrived today! So we are now officially carrying their line in the shop! Woohoo! (I will have to say though...for all the money I spent, it would have made me feel a whole lot better if it had arrived in a gigantic size box! Maybe good things really do come in small packages!)

30 ct. Confederate gray linen and 28 ct Cashel in "Dirty" came in today too!

The WOW wool is ready to go for April (and it's not even the end of the month yet!)!! So girls, come in quick for the best selection!

Shawn is busy working on a couple of antique buys he picked up...so hopefully they'll be in the shop in the next week or so...

And...the bolts we ordered of Primitive Gathering's line called "Seasonal Gatherings" are on their way and will be here next week! We do have fat quarters available on all 50 pcs in the line, but we only purchased about 12 of the bolts. They are now over on our selling site (see the right hand side bar)for viewing and pre-orders.

This is one of the new projects coming out in the Summer edition of Primitive Quilts and Projects Magazine. Kerri Arthur (www.calicorabbit.blogspot.com)designed this darling little bag and asked me if we would like to kit it for the magazine. So....we are listed as the kit provider and are already getting calls from gals across the U.S. wanting a kit. There will be a limited number of kits made..if any of our regular customers are wanting one...please let me know! I will have some for sale this weekend in the shop!

And better late than never...

We had this runner in the shop for sale before Easter....so naturally we had several customers ask if there was a kit available. There is now! And...there are only 4 left! Soooo....if you're thinking you need one to do for next Easter...let me know!
Kit price is $32 (WOW price is $28.80)and comes will all the hand-dyed wools and plaid backing fabric.(It does not come with the pattern, but we have that in stock!) When they're gone...that's it...this is a bit of a bear to dye and make it all look really good!

That's it for this week's update..I have to shut this computer down and haul it back to the Geek Squad!
Have a great weekend..and come see us if you get the chance!

But for now, if I did this right, here is a link to the page on Andover's website showing the line. These pics are paper strike-offs and the fabric is soooo much prettier in person! And they go really well with the new "Alexandria" line by Jo Morton that recently arrived! (Just copy and past this link into your browser...)The ones that look light gray are actually are really pretty soft blue...

http://andoverfabrics.com/Grid.php?GroupName=Garden Gate Plaids

(Thursday...)

I wanted to get the photos up of the silk matka that came in last week...tons of uses for this beautiful fabric! Wonderful for cross stitch projects as well as wool applique! The pictures are of the fabric unwashed...so it's very "slick" with very little texture. But when you wash it, it takes on a whole new personality and becomes a bit nubby with a great "feel". $28 per yard...wow members get their discount!
