It's Here!! It's Here!!
Oh my gosh! There are not enough words to describe this magazine! And I'm in the middle of dying wool...so I won't elaborate tons here right now...but what a great magazine from front to back!!
For those of you on the list, your name is already on one! I'll be mailing out the issues I need to tomorrow...and if you are needing one...they will be on my website a little later today or you can email me direct!
(Update 8-1-10...only two copies left!!)
For the girls doing the Settler's Pride quilt...the July block is ready to go and those needing to be mailed are going out! If you're picking up...it will be at the shop this weekend!

The Word of the Day is....Bookoos! (updated Friday 23rd)
Happy Monday to all! We had a really busy weekend and already this week promises to be great...but busy!! I've got lots of good stuff coming in for the shop this week...so I've picked "bookoos" as my word for the week! (That is a word, right?)
Our mail lady just delivered Judy Condon's newest book..."The Comfort of Home". As usual....GREAT pictures and lots of inspiration if you love primitive american antiques. One of the houses shown in this edition is Barbara and Wayne Carroll's house (Woolley Fox rug hooking designs)...so there are bookoos of old and new hooked rugs shown in all the pictures...what fun!
Anyway...we have a FEW copies not spoken for...so if you are wanting one, just let me know! $24.95 for the book...I'll have them over on our website to purchase as well.
(Judy's next book, which is Christmas themed, will be coming out in early September. So because of that, we will not be reordering the book we just received when we run out.)
I've got bookoos of punchneedle patterns coming in this week as well! I'll make a list on the blog after they all get here...in case anyone is needing any! (Lots of Halloween and Christmas ones for sure!)
And speaking of punchneedle...I'd like to thank all the girls who came to my punchneedle class on Saturday! I really enjoyed everyone in the class and I hope everyone had a good time!
(Friday evening update)
Well...I thought I'd put a quick update on...sadly there are no pictures to go with the plethera of things that are coming into the shop this weekend! (Can't find the little card thing that fits into the camera and I'm tired of looking for it!)
I threw my back out yesterday hauling in the GIGANTIC box of new textured wools...OMG...what was I thinking!??!! There's a heat index of 110 here and I'm going to heat up the kitchen for a week and dye wool!! I got a little bit done today...oh my gosh did they turn out great! I promise pictures when I find the card!
Note to the WOW group members...your July wool treat is ready and I'll be shipping out pieces to those of you who can't make it into the shop...otherwise, I have them ready to be picked up the next time you come in!
Lots of new punchneedle patterns! I'm restocked on the sandcastle fabric too! And I'm restocked on several new wool applique patterns that we had run out of...
There are lots of new candle flavors that just came in...plus some favorites for the upcoming fall season...Snickerdoodle, Papa's Pumpkin Pie, and Anut Kooks Apple Cider, to name just a few!
Plus...I got a BIG box of our scented rosehips in...including a new one...Pumpkin Pie...plus our favorites...Cinnamon Stix and Stones, Mulberry, Orange Twist and Cinnamon Bun. (I'm starting to get hungry!!)
Be looking next week for our first blog give-a-way! Details on how you can enter coming soon!
Have a great weekend....if its' hot where you live right now, grab a cool drink and do something fun indoors!

I feel like Pooh (Winnie, that is)...finding a big pot of honey!
Evening to all....I hope some of yall come to read the blog tonight without getting our weekly update reminder...
I sometimes feel like I would love NOT to have a computer...but in reality, I need it, I want it and it's got to stay working! AOL is having "issues" with its' mail service right now and it is affecting some of their accounts...and mine happens to be one of them! For 2 days now, I haven't been able to send out or receive email and it's beginning to drive me just a little crazy to say the least!
If anyone needs to get a hold of me, one of my other accounts on aol seems to working with no problem...so please feel free to email me at theartfulhooker@aol.com.
Now...why I feel like Pooh! We found lots of sweeeet primitves this week...it was really hard to let go of them and offer them up for sale! I will admit...a couple of these goodies will be in the shop for one weekend only...(which is my policy...everything I find has to be for sale for at least one weekend before I claim it as mine forever!)
Here's what's coming in....
The first is this fantastic early little table...original blue paint to the skirting and legs...great patina to the breadboard top. $295.00
Next, is a beautiful and large antique dough bowl...original blue paint and the coolest OLD repair...
At some point, very early on, someone tried to drill a hole in the bowl...probably to hang it...which caused the crack. The repair is early to the piece and for me, just adds character to the ol'girl. It's large...16 1/2" diameter one way and 17" diameter the other...not toooo out of round, but just enough to know it's true age!
$295.00
Shawn has been working on a nice old dry sink this week...it needed a bath and a makeover(it's getting one with old blue milk paint!)
One thing I like about this type of dry sink is the lid...love the way it opens up...not all dry sinks do that. Shut it and use it as a nice small buffet...or open that girl up and fill her full of old bowls and kitchen treen! Price on the dry sink is $495.00.
We're bringing in a great early to mid 19th century childs school lap desk (Henderson County, NC) featuring dove-tailed pine and headless square brad construction.(We're estimating 1820-1840.) It has its' original black oxidized paint and inside fittings. Price on the lap desk is $195.00. AND... a really nice old firkin... 10" in diameter with great original stenciling on the handle and a beautiful patina. Price is $150.00. And last, but not least, if anyone is a big collector or lover of early enamelware...we found a really nice early blue/white swirl berry bucket(6 1/2" in diameter & 5" tall) with its' original enamelware lid! (Most of the time the lid is missing or it's made out of tin...the enamel lids are a little harder to come by...)This particular size is a bit more rare and the condition of this piece is in almost near perfect condition. It's the best piece we've ever had to offer! Price on the berry bucket is $135.00
All these items will be in the shop at least for this weekend!
Everyone have a great weekend...and if you're in the Raleigh area, the big Antique Extravaganza is going on through Sunday at the Downtown Convention Center...some great primitives at that show (but you'll like our prices better!!)

Friday evening and all is well....
Well....we almost went without a post this week...but a couple of new things did come through the door today! (That's the bad thing about long holiday weekends...it messes up our delivery schedule with UPS!)
Real quick, before I forget....for those of you who are cross stitchers and fans of Carriage House Samplings...they are now retiring and will no longer be producing cross stitch patterns. Here is a link to one of our distributor's pages for Carriage House Samplings...if you are needing anything before it is no longer available, I'll be placing an order with them on Monday and I'll be glad to add anything on that you want to get. Just let me know!
http://nordencrafts.com/C-52/Carriage-House-Samplings.aspx
Also...Judy Condon's new book..."The Comfort of Home" will be shipping next week. I'm not ordering a "ton" of these...and I do have several people already on the list to get one. If you're not sure you're on the list and definitely want the new book...let me know! Price per book is $24.95.
This new Marcus Brothers fabric came in today...that perfect shade of civil war blue! From the Bonnie Blue Basics line...$7.95 per yard (for the WOW girls..10% off)
(I just taught my first covered box class last night...thank you ladies for coming...it was a lot of fun!! And when this fabric came in today...all I could think was...OMG WHAT A GREAT COVERED BOX!!)
Also walking in the door today was the new issue of the Wool Street Journal! Always a treat to look at the inspiring primitive projects and test out the new dye formula! $8.00 per copy.
And last but not least...a new upcoming book alert!!
Due out Mid August will be Maggie Bonanomi's third book..."Comfort Zone"!!
112 Color pages of purely primitive projects...(try saying that 3 times fast!)
She’s created 18 new projects: bed covers, hooked rugs, pillows, tablerunners, whimsical sewing items – even a jacket and toe warmers. As always, many of the projects are inspired by the antiques that Maggie collects.
Regular retail on the book is $26.95. Pre-order price is $24.95 (WOW preorder price is 22.95).
That's it for this week! Come see us if you get the chance! And if anyone wants to jump in on a punchneedle or rug hooking class next weekend...there are still openings in each. Contact me for details! Happy weekend...Lisa
