Hey yall!! We got home late last night from PA! We're trying to get everything in the garage before the sprinkles come...but I grabbed a handful of goodies and snapped a few pictures...but you're gonna have to come in to see it all!! :)

We ordered a lot of things this time around...that will be coming in over the next several months...but we brought home lots a great stuff to help decorate those country homes! We were able to do a little antique shopping as well...found a few things here and there!

Busy week around here...and I'm running out of time!! We leave for PA. on Friday on a shop buying trip and there is tons to do before we head down the highway!

The models and kits for the two wool projects that we are making from the new Spring issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects WILL be in the shop this weekend! I've had lots of girls put their name down for one..but in case you didn't see what we were doing...go down one or two posts on the blog and you can see them! They have turned out really great! **I had to increase the price on the coneflower runner by a few dollars...totally forgot to figure for the backing fabric...

Happy Friday everyone!

What a week this has been...I think I'm glad it's Friday!

For all you girls (and guys) that received one of those weird emails from us this past week...I do apologize for that! Our aol account was hacked and sent out some bizarre email to just about everyone in our email base...what a mess that was! And try calling AOL and getting anything done fast...forget that!! (And I find it hard to believe that anyone with THAT heavy of an accent NOT from this country has the name "REX"....really???) Anywhooooo....we finally got it all straight...changed things that had to be changed....and off we go again!

Primitive Quilts and Projects Spring issue arrived and will be in the shop this weekend! I have two kits just about ready to go...I'll have a few done by Saturday...

This is Maggie's project from the book...although she does not back her project, our kit will have backing fabric included in case a pillow comes to mind when your making it...$12.00 for the kit (WOW price $10.50)

This is Jan Goos's project...I played with the dying and I think it has come out great! Kit price (with backing) will be $25...(WOW price $22.50).

Bridgeport by Jo Morton is shipping sometime next week...looking forward to that! LOTS of great reds in that line!

And last but not least...we're finally making a quick trip to PA. next week to pick up some antiques and goodies for the other side of our shop...which is looking a bit sad since Christmas...the shopping pledge is..."I'm not coming home til the van is full!"

When I got up this morning, I swore I wasn't going to bed until my rug was finished (well, at least the hooking part of it)! It's now a little after midnight and I'm heading off to bed! Ta da!! Now onto the binding!

Can't believe it's already Thursday...where did this week go?? I'll be updating the blog several times today and tomorrow with new info and stuff that's arriving!

We got in the February Word Play pattern from Country Stitches....

I checked with Primitive Quilts and Magazines yesterday...shop copies are shipping next week...so lets cross our fingers for next weekend! Great projects in the magazine (I got a sneak peak copy in the mail already!) Here are pictures of two projects that I'll be kitting up...

This is Maggie Bonanomi's project...naturally when I saw that background wool, and knowing that I have that, well...we've got to put this kit together! (Overall size is 12" x 14 1/2")

And this is Jan Goos's project...love this! Wouldn't this make a great bolster pillow! If you've seen the "Settler's Pride" blocks in the shop...well that is the color palette I'll use for this kit! (Project size is 15" x 30")

I'll figure the price on the kits here soon...but if you know you want to be on the list for either of them..email me!

Will this rug never end??? (updated Friday night)

Just a little background left and then it's on to the binding...woohoo!
I've had several people ask me how big is this rug and who is the designer...
Well..the rug is just a bit over 3' x 5' and the designer is Edyth O'Neill. Her designs(including this one) can be found on Woolley Fox's website. This pattern is called "Antique Blue Basket".

Not a ton to update you on this week...but we did get a couple of things in!

First, we received Barbara Brackman's new line called "1862 Battle Hymn" by Moda. We got about 2/3 of the line and I'm in the process of putting this quilt kit together now!

Quilt size is 64" x 82".

News about Sandcastle...

After talking with the company that manufactures the quilted Sandcastle fabric, we have found out that is has been discontinued and when their available stock is gone, it's gone for good! I ordered quite a bit and plan to order more so that we can keep it going for a while...but I just want to give yall a "heads up" on whats going on...just in case you need to get some for your stash! It is such a great background for fabric or wool applique, stitchery projects, backings on pillows, etc. ($9.95 per yard until we run out...yikes!)

New spring projects and patterns are around the corner, plus we are heading to PA. in about 3 weeks on a buying trip...so lots to look forward to!

Keeping My Resolutions.....so far! (updated Wednesday 1/4)

It may be only the 3rd day into the new year...but I'm keeping my resolutions so far! I got that last leaf done by Saturday night and I'm on to the background!

Today's task at hand is to start dying a bunch of new wools for the shop! I'm going to do some to match the Blueberry Crumb Cake colors from Blackbird's new line of fabric...yum!

Also...the LONG AWAITED book, "Simpler Times" will be here very soon! (Picture of the book is over on the right hand side bar...). We heard from the author, put our order in..now just a short wait! I've got a list going for the book...if you know for sure that you want one, please let me know!

We got a great bolt of fabric in today..."Redworks" by Mary Koval for Windham fabrics. Based on an antique redwork quilt, this would be great for a backing of a red and white quilt..what a great way to make it reversible! I loaded a couple of pictures so you could see more of the designs. Regular retail is $10.50. Our price is $9.50 (WOW price is $8.55)

In for this weekend....(I didn't even remember I had ordered these!)...I've got two complete fat packs coming in of Blueberry Crumb Cake from Blackbird Designs...AND the jelly roll packs as well!

Pricing on the jelly rolls are suppose to be regular retail at $39.00. Our price is $35.00 and the WOW member price is $30.00!

Let the After Christmas Sale Begin! (Updated Friday evening...)

Happy pre-New Years Greetings to all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday...I know I did! Santa brought me lots of goodies and I've spent the week here in-between Christmas and New Years just doing "for me" stuff here at home! Two of my New Years resolutions that I have started early are...eat healthier and be more productive. So....this past week, I pulled out my big blue antique basket rug that I had been really working on before mom died and I'm going to get that thing finished! I should be done with all the inside work by Saturday...so all I'll have left is the background to do. My goal is to have it hanging in the shop by the end of January! (That's #3 on my new years resolution list!)
Here's an updated picture...only one big leaf and a flower left to go and then it's all background....yea!

Greetings to all...I'm up and running like a mad woman already this Monday morning! Can't slow down now...Christmas is just around the corner!

We got some news from the Management office on Sunday...they have decided NOT to open for Black Friday, right after Thanksgiving. So we WILL BE CLOSED on Black Friday! Which, of course, throws a small kink into our Christmas Open House dates...but nothing major...we will just bump our Christmas Open House to Saturday and Sunday of that weekend!

And don't forget...for those of you who like to go to the "Christmas Carousel" Craft show, it will be held that weekend in the Exposition Center!

Also, we got the Week's linen back in Confederate Gray and Cocoa...both in 30 count...both SPECTACULAR colors! AND...we got samples of their more neutral shades...so if you need to see what we can get...just let me know when you're at the shop and I can show them to you!

New textured wools are in...

And we got the most AWESOME early Antique quilt...very close to mint condition...red and white Ohio Star Pattern in smaller 6" blocks...summer weight (very thin)...all hand done with nice quilting. Even the back is a great little red/white early almost shirting type print! I'll try and post a picture once I have it hanging in the shop...$475.00

We also bought some really beautiful antique feather edge platters and plate...the earliest piece is the largest platter...dates around 1780-1800 and measures 18" x
14". The smaller platter dates around 1790-1810 and measures 13" x 10 1/2". The serving plate (round) is from 1800-1820 and is 11" in diameter. British made for the American market...so technically it is considered "American". Very hard to find in really good condition, all of the pieces we found are near mint. A great "add" to a feather-edge collection. We'll have it in the shop for this weekend...email me for pricing.

Two big shows going on this weekend...
The Raleigh Women's Antique Show over the Scott Building (lots of silver, crystal and jewelry) and the Dixie Gun and Knife Show over at the Jim Graham building. Ladies, drop those guys off at the gun show and come hang out with us for a bit!!

It may be chilly outside, but the vendors are packed out there in the antique section again this weekend! Can't wait for that!

We got a really nice phone call from the editors of "Mary Jane's Farm" magazine the other day...wanting to know if we would like to sell their magazine in our shop! Naturally, we said YES to that! So we'll be starting with the Dec-Jan Holiday edition...cross your fingers...it might be at the shop this weekend! $5.99 per issue (WOW price $5.39) and worth every penny, even if you're not a farmgirl at heart! This particular issue has some great articles in it on collections and one about The Buggy Barn Quilt Shop in Washington State!

We just got home from the shop a bit ago...the outdoor vendor section is packed outside and the weather looks to be beautiful all weekend!

The quilt pattern that we will be doing using Blackbird's new line of fabric arrived! Keep your fingers crossed that the fabric shows up next week or so!

Plus we got in some great QUICK wool Christmas project patterns...I dyed wool all day yesterday to put kits together for those...so we'll be working on those this weekend!

Vickie Wallace...our prim doll maker extroidinare...gave me some wonderful snowmen, Santas and angels today...they're in the shop and you'll just have to come see them for yourself! I'm sure they won't last long!

Ready for Saturday!

Oh my gosh...we're almost ready to reopen the shop...I will be soooo glad when I'm all done! Just a couple of hours tomorrow...putting up the models on the quilt shop side....and "fluffing and buffing" a few displays and we'll be ready to go for Saturday!
Here's a few snaps of how the shop looked about an hour before I left...

This is the new line of Civil War Journal prints by Marcus Brothers...30 pieces in all..I'll be telling yall about the great projects that use this line in the next few days!

We brought back some AWESOME finds from PA...(sorry, that antique quilt has sold already!)the quilting/stitchery side has the new fabric shelves all in place....and it looks really great! Yall are going to have to come in a buy a bunch of fabric....I have to make room for all the new lines I ordered with one of my reps today!

We received the new Winter Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine in time for this weekend! Great patterns in this issue!

And...two new patterns came in today...November Word Play by Country Stitches (December Word Play will be here next week) and Jan Goos's new pattern, "Morning in the Meadow"!

There are SEVERAL new cross stitch patterns and punchneedle patterns coming next week...I'll save those pics for the next update!

The Winter issue of "A Simple Life" Magazine came in this week....really really nice issue and even comes with a free CD of fiddle music for the season! $8.95 per issue (WOW price is $8.05)

Greetings all! We finally got back home from PA late last night....the cargo van full to the brim with antiques and finds for the shop (and one or two for the house!)

I'll be working on the blog later tonight and tomorrow trying to post at least some of the stuff that had been arriving while we were gone...it was just like Christmas opening those boxes this morning! Blueberry Crumb Cake charm packs from Moda, New Marcus Brothers Civil War fabric...a few new books....the list is long!

Well...tomorrow is the big day...time to put the shop back together! I'll be so glad when this part if over....seems like it takes forever and it is always a slow process!

Our Christmas Open House will be Friday & Saturday, November 25th and 26th! Be sure and mark your calendars as this will be the "official" start of our Christmas season with lots of great merchandise and handcrafted items in the shop starting that weekend!

Fabric has been rolling in this week! We got several bolts of "Tavern Blues" by Marcus Brothers...which will go perfectly with the new complete line of "Civil War Journal" prints(also by Marcus Brothers)that also came in!

"Elizabeth Town"...Jo Morton's line hasn't shipped yet...but they were saying Nov.
1st...so I'm hoping it comes in this week for our opening weekend! (I'll keep you posted!)

All the antique "finds" that we brought home from PA...well, they are all out in the garage waiting to go in with me on Monday! You'll just have to come see all the goodies for youself! But I will share one picture...I bought this thinking it would go into the shop...but the more we talked about it, it ended up in the living room as the "new" entertainment center! Early part of the 1800's with the greatest old red paint...and our bird crocks fit perfectly!

The new December issue of Early American Life is here and will be at the shop this coming weekend! There is a really nice article on Arnett's Country Store, showing the beautiful log home they live in up in Illinois. $4.99 per copy (WOW price $4.49)

If anyone did not get a copy of the Christmas Early American Life magazine and would still like one, please let me know...I'm thinking I will try and reorder!

Also...I have PLENTY of the great tan with red stripe toweling by Moda that is used quite a bit in the new French Inspirations book! I thought I better get a bunch while they still had it in stock...it takes FOREVER to get back in once they run out!

We got an email today from the author of the upcoming "Simpler Times" book. We finally have a release date of MARCH 2012 for this book. Also, there is already a 2nd
book in the works calld "Simpler Times - Autumn" that will be released in AUGUST
2012. We will carry both books and I do have a list going for those who definantly want the first one when it arrives!

Another FYI...I called Andover Fabrics to see how things were going after the big flood..."Elizabethtown" is now due to ship November 1st (or there abouts)...hopefully we'll have them in when we re-open!

No Rest in Sight!

Happy Wednesday to all!

Thought I better stay on top of what's going on around here even if the shop is "packed up" for the month of October!! There certainly is no rest in sight for us...we're heading to Virginia on Friday for a quickie antique search, then off to a show on Saturday....then it's the barn sale in two weeks (which I'm still not ready for)...then to PA for more shop buying...then we'll be putting the shop back together so we can reopen the first weekend of November with tons of new merchandise and fabric!

WHEW! I THINK I NEED A NAP!!

We've got new goodies arriving all the time...today we received the Moda charm packs for Howard Marcus's "Collection for a Cause-COMFORT" line of fabric. They are beautiful! Sadly, when I saw my sales rep, the line was pretty much "sold out" to be able to pick and choose...but I was able to purchase the charm packs! 42 - 5" squares...our price $8.95 (WOW girls get it for $8.05). There are only 12 packs available and these are now sold out as well with Moda....if you want one...let me know!

Two Weekends left....no wonder I'm stressed! (UPDATED FRIDAY)

Happy Thursday to all!

We've got two weekends left before we have to close down for a month...of course, that month will FLY by and we'll be back open the first of November...but good night nurse, all the things we have to do between now and then is staggering!

First...we were expecting Jo Morton's new line, "Elizabethtown" to come in this week. Sadly, it will not ship until sometime in October (we hope) now...
Andover's main facility was heavily flooded by the rains from Irene and all of the fabric that was in one main warehouse was ruined...which just happened to be all the doubled and rolled lines, including this one. So Andover is reprinting as quickly as possible and we should have it by the time we re-open in November.

If you haven't had a chance to come and play with the new flannels we recently got in...they are spectacular! And with this cool weather nipping at our heels this weekend..what a perfect time to come and get some!

A quick note about the emails we send out every week....

A couple of weeks ago my main computer had to go to the Geek squad to be totally reformated. Luckily, all of my files were backed up on Carbonite so we didn't lose any of that! Put oddly, when we put AOL back onto the computer, about 150 email addresses were missing from the shop's address book...which is what we use to send out our weekly email. If you have noticed that you have not received an email from us lately, chances are, your email was one of the missing. If you would like to be put back on the update list, please just email me directly and let me know and we'll get you back on! Sorry for the hassle!

Taking orders until October 1st...

Back in the summer we met an artist from Ohio that makes wonderful outdoor garden bee skeps and skep houses. Many of you bought the bee skeps we brought back from the shop, but we only brought back one house and I kept it. We're hoping to meet up with him again in October and get some of his houses this time. To make sure we get enough of them, we will take orders until October 1st on the house. Below are pictures....the cost is $56.00. Please email me if you are interested!

Well...Shawn came across two AWESOME pieces today....the bowl will come in with us this weekend, but the miniature pie safe will most likely make its' debut at the Barn Sale we're doing mid-October...

This is the "miniature" pie safe...though it's not all THAT miniature...but a FANTASTIC small size with about a ba-jillion (is that a word?) uses! Although it looks very white...it actually shows quite a bit of its original green paint...with the old coat of white paint on top. (This could be very easily dryscraped more down to its orig. green). 36 1/2 " tall x 35" wide and 15" deep....with 3 shelves behind its original screened doors. VERY HEAVY heart pine with square nail construction...a Johnston County piece for sure and has been here all it's life...dates to about 1870.

Now for the bowl...AWESOME old dough bowl with original grey blue paint. She's a big one...measuring 18 1/2" x 17 1/2 in diameter...did I mention, AWESOME! Great turned rim and foot...dates to about mid 1800's and a great OLD funky repair! (This looks great in my kitchen...so it's only coming in for one weekend.) $250.00

Happy Thursday to all!

I've got so much to put on the blog this week that I don't know where to start! Here it is Thursday already and I've been bogged down since last Friday by medicine that is creating havoc with me in general and now I've got one of those Halter monitors that I can't rip off until tomorrow afternoon! (Pain in the @#%^&! #1)

I finally was able to pick up my "big" computer on Monday...but half of the programs are now gone and I'm having to either download programs or buy new ones so that I can atually open some of my files and get something done!! (Pain in the @#%^&! #2)

I'm "test driving" these pictures to see how the color is going to come out...so bear with me while I pinch and tweak this computer!

Here are pictures of the new Marcus Brothers flannels called "Primo Plaids"! 11 plaids in all...wonderfully woven and soft...the same on both sides...FANTASTIC for those quick rag quilts! Price per yard is $8.50...wow price is $7.65! I've already got fat quarter bundles cut along with some 1/2 yard bundles and individual fat quarters as well!

If the colors look a little sharp and harsh on your monitor...trust me...they're not! These guys are like that old favorite flannel shirt...soft, muted and just begging to be wrapped around ya!

Our other line of flannels that came in are the "Woolen Needle" flannels by Primitive Gatherings for Moda fabrics...40 bolts in this line and every one of them is a keeper for sure! It's always a good day when the UPS man comes to visit...and I'm getting to see him a lot this week! (Maybe tomorrow I'll ask him his name...you'd think I would know that by now!)

We received some of our Moda fabrics today..."Little Gatherings" by Primitive Gatherings, Prairie cloth in 3 great colors, and three of the hand-dyed muslins from Primitive Gatherings as well! I'm throwing pics up here tonight,but tomorrow I'll get them over on the selling blog...under the "What's New" heading...along with some new books and patterns...

These three Prairie cloth colors are "staples" in the shop...FANTASTIC alternative for wool applique backgrounds...GREAT for wool project backings...and PERFECT for stitchery of all kinds, especially cross stitch...as the weave is very even and the holes are actually big enough to see! Well...the fabric is over on the "What's New" page of the selling blog...finally! I'm working on my laptop and it is taking me about 5 times longer to get anything done...our regular computer won't be ready until tomorrow (crossing my fingers on that one!) and thank heavens I had most everything backed up with Carbonite since the Geek Squad is dumping everything and re-formatting the hard drive! I tried to get the email out tonight....I promise, I really did! BUT nothing is set up the same on my laptop...my big computer is still at Geek Squad hopefully fixed by now....and I would have picked it up this afternoon....except I spent all afternoon and into this evening in the &*%^)&! emergency room....like I had time for THAT!

I won't go into a lengthy explanation about that whole ordeal...only to say I am now on medication for "heart palpatations"...which is actually blood pressure medication and seeing how I already have LOW blood pressure, that doesn't sound like to BEST thing to be doing...hopefully I won't fall out tomorrow at the shop from REALLY low blood pressure! What's an overworked girl to do!!??

One of the gals that does really great fall and halloween goodies for the shop is coming in tomorrow with an arm-load! Can't wait for that!! It'll be later in the afternoon though...so don't come running in at the 9 o'clock bell to see that stuff!
(Though, if you didn't make it in lately...I brought in some great halloween goodies last Sunday!)

We had a lot of wind and rain...but finally tonight, Irene has moved on and we've only got some back yard clean up to do from the downed tree limbs and branches that didn't fare too well in the storm!

That pretty much sums up what I think of Irene heading our way....however, it doesn't look like she's changing her travel plans....SO....

We will NOT be at the shop on Saturday...but if all goes well, we will be at the shop on Sunday under sunny blue skies! Sadly, I live close to I-95 and our wind and rain chances are much higher. If we have any kind of damage or power loss at home, we will most likely not be in the shop on Sunday as well...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that won't be the case! We'll let you know!

All the books and patterns that we listed in the blog update below have now all come in! I'll be putting these over on our selling site later tonight under the "What's New" section, if you need to order and have shipped!

Happy Monday to all! We're startng the week off with an early post of goodies that will be here for the coming weekend!

Halloween is in full swing at the shop....hopefully, if you live close, you've had the chance to come by and see all the prim cats and bats and wonderful halloween gourds. But never fear...we've got treats (and a couple of tricks up our sleeves) still to come!

Most of you know...I never start a new post until at least Monday...but I had to make an exception in the case!!

This is a special Fall Magazine Alert Message!!

When I got home from the shop this evening, our post lady had left me two boxes (oh my gosh...what could they be??) Well, I'll tell ya...the fall issues of two of our favorite magazines...Mercantile Gatherings and A Primitive Place!! I'm still doing a happy dance!

They are going into the shop with me tomorrow...and for you girls who have put your name on the list of either one or both of the magazines....I'll have them there ready for you to pick up at your convenience! (And if we're mailing yours, I'll be getting with you on Monday!)

AND...Vickie (our prim doll maker extroidinare) stopped by and dropped off a few more treats that will be going in with me tomorrow as well...(this is Vladimere, the Vampire make-do...sadly, my picture does not do ol' Vlad justice....he is just way tooo cool!) You'll just have to come in and see for yourself all the other goodies she brought!

Just a quick update tonight...we received another one of our fall magazines! "A Simple Life" will be in the shop this weekend....so except for the new Simpler Times book coming (and we have no idea when that will be!), all of our fall publications are now in the shop!

I met with my fabric rep from Moda today...someone should have been there to stop me from buying...you should see all the great fabrics we've got coming in..."Woolen Needle" flannels, "Blueberry Crumb Cake" by Blackbird Designs, to name just a couple of things....oh my gosh, where is it all going to go???

We received our order from Primitiques for some of their AWESOME hand-painted baskets...if I get a chance, I'll snap a few pics...otherwise...you'll just have to come in and see them for yourself!

Fall wools will be in this weekend...that's on my agenda for tomorrow. I'll be posting some pictures over on our selling site under "wools" later as we had some wonderful "as-is" yardage arrive as well.

Happy Monday to all!

I'm feeling terribly overwhelmed today...so much to do and so little time!! Has anyone figured out how to squeeze 50 hours of work into a 24 hour day??? If you have, then I need to know the secret!

I had several customers tell me they didn't receive my blog update on Friday...well, not only did I send it out, I actually sent it out before 6pm! (Which, most of you know, is almost unheard of around here!) Sometimes I think AOL has a mind of its own...so I blame it all on them!

(Friday evening...)

Finally! After two weeks of pacing...then brooding when the UPS man didn't deliver anything FUN...he delivered today! This picture only shows about 1/2 the boxes we got...the other 1/2 were already being loaded into the car!!
The really fun part was that we had to leave shortly after and get all that stuff to the shop so we could get it in by tomorrow...and we did!

First, we got the entire fabric line of Jo Morton's "Sweet Emily"...absolutely beautiful! There are 31 bolts in the collection...I'll put pictures up next week after I get a chance to cut it! ($9.50 per yard...our price. Reg. retail is $10.95)(WOW price is $8.55 per yard)

Then we received fabric from Windham...the pink quilt fabric from the American Spirit line came back in....so if you're wanting to do the "Rocky Road" quilt...we've got the main fabric now! Plus some great civil war "fillers" from several of the lines...and the golden brown velveteen from American Spirit too!

I got the PVA glue back in stock...great for making the fabric covered boxes! If you are needing one of the jars...let me know...there are only 6. $11.95 per jar...

One of my good customers sent this to me in an email...sadly, it fits our situation around here perfectly!!! I honestly don't see how it could get any hotter around here...my poor air conditioner hasn't shut off since about 10a this morning! UGH!

And.....I've been standing on my head every day WAITING for the UPS man to show up with boxes...lots of boxes! What is he waiting on???? I thought for sure we would have had at least one of the new magazines come in by now! Oh well...as Scarlet would say...tomorrow is another day!

**I have had several people ask about the rug on the front cover of that book...here's the scoop....that design is by Polly Minick, which she only did in kit form. It's great that Shawn's family lives up in PA...close to lots of good antique auctions...sometimes we get lucky....other times, not. This time we were very fortunate to get some really nice antique baskets at very fair prices...these will be in the shop this weekend...

The first basket is a beautiful ash splint basket...$150.00
The rest of the baskets are all oak...2nd basket, $95 (SOLD)....third basket, $100.00....fourth basket, $85.00 (SOLD) and the last basket (a beautiful basket!), $125.00 (SOLD)

Had to put this in at the last tonight...we were just commenting on that fact that we haven't seen many bunnies in the yard this year...it was right at near dark tonight when I walked out to finish a little watering and there he was...munching in the grass...you could have put him in a teacup, he was that small!

Trying to get a jump start on the week....(UPDATED FRIDAY EVENING)

I'm trying to do better this week by starting my update a little earlier! I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend....here in the NC, the temperature tomorrow is suppose to be 101 with a humidity index of about a million! UGH! There are things I need to do outside...ok, well....forget that! Then there is a bunch of wool dying I need to do...hmmm...maybe if I get an early start in the morning! I can't seem to get motivated up in my studio because it is SUCH A MESS!! I truly believe I was ADD as a child and it has just carried into my adult life! (Though when I was in grade school...my teachers just told my mother I was "Social"!!)
Anywhooo.....on with the update....

We found an incredible deal on some great primitive painted frames...there are two sizes...5 x 7 and 8 x 10...and there are two colors...mustard over black or red over black. They are fantastic for cross-stitch, embroidery, or punchneedle projects...and they are CHEAP! The 5 x 7's are $3.95 each and the 8 x 10's are $5.95 each!! All the frames comes with glass as well....(that red on the frame is more "barn" red than "cherry"...guess I need to dink a little more with those camera settings!)

We're bringing in lots of fall/halloween punchneedle patternn this coming weekend...plus a new pattern pattern by Country Stitches..."Berries and Blooms"...a wonderful little pattern with 4 sewing projects...$13.95 (WOW price $12.50)

We thought we'd try a few colors to start with, so we picked "Fresh Eggs", "Slate", "Moss", "Figgy Pudding", "Twig", "Pumpkin", and "Blush". These will be wonderful additions to your vintage pincushions, pillows, etc. as trim and edgings...each package is 5 yards for $3.50 (WOW price $3.00 each)

We have a few customers that are needing some of the back issues of Judy Condon's books...
We have extra copies of her last book, "Spirit of Country" coming back in for those of you who would like to get one.
However....the book that was primarily on gardens..."Simply Country Gardens"...is no longer available for shops to purchase. That book is almost sold out and if you are wanting one, you'll need to purchase it directly from Judy before she runs out.

Finally...."Midnight Run" punchneedle patterns will be ready for this weekend....and we also received the Sampler Threads floss used for the background! So for you girls patiently waiting for that pattern...it will be in the shop on Saturday!!

I'm not sure where this whole week has gone....but here it is Friday night and it's time for an update! This one will be brief this week!

For those of you in the area, the Antiques Extravaganza is going on all this weekend out at the Jim Graham building.....It started today and will run tomorrow from 9am - 6pm and on Sunday from 10am - 5pm. Lots of vendors...several good american primitive booths as well. Parking is free and we have $.50 cent off coupons in our shop, if you come out!

We went by there today and bought this great piece of early 19th century needlework!(Most likely 1830's - 1850's) I think I see a shop project emerging from this little beauty! It's got those most wonderful old reds, gray-blues, faded sage greens and of course, black all in the piece...hmmm....maybe a new block of the month....

For you girls doing the "Down the Maiden's Path" Block of the Month...the last two kits are done and are ready to be picked up! This is it...can you believe it!!??

We have a handful of new goodies in the shop this week...come by and check it all out if you can! And we've started cutting fat eighth pieces from all the fabrics in the shop...we're calling them "Candy Rolls" and they are $1.25 each! Great way to add to your fabric stash without breaking the bank!

Happy 4th everyone!! We hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend with lots of lemonade, watermelon and fireworks!!

I'll try and keep this weeks' update short and sweet...

First off...we will be open all weekend, so please come by and see us if you get the chance! Here are just a couple of pics I took in the shop today of some of the new things we brought in...

This is a replica George Washington box made for us by Primitiques. Fantastic blue paint called "Ella Blue"...this is actually fairly large...21 1/2" to the top of the cherry tree, 11 1/2" wide and 7 1/2" deep. It can be hung on the wall or it makes a great catch box on a hutch or in the kitchen! This might be one of those "one weekend only deals...I've found way tooo many places I could put this in the house! $155.00. We also received a FAB 10" bowl that they did as well in the same "Ella Blue"...it's on the table in the picture below...$38.00 (WOW discounts do apply!)

I took a picture of our bee skeps and primitive dolls...the skeps are going fast...we've probably sold more than half of what we were able to bring back from PA. I just received some of our great dolls we ordered..."Nellie" is up top...she is actually a make-do doll on a large bobbin. Her dress is an old flour mill sack from Albermarle, NC...now how cool is that! Nellie is $44.00 We also brought in one of our black cats...great painted and sanded with rusty bells around his neck..."Tuck" is a PA transplant looking for a new home..he's $28.00 (SOLD)

For you girls doing the "Down the Maiden's Path" BOM kits...Abigale is ready to be picked up or shipped...she was the November girl we didn't get to last fall. Betsy, the July Maiden, is your last kit and I should have her ready by Sunday...I'm taking all the parts to work on her at the shop tomorrow! So yall are almost done! Woohoo!!

(If anyone is interested in making one of these girls, I should have extra kits available. They come complete with pattern and everything you need for $28.00. ($25 if you are a WOW member.)

Well I think that's all I had to talk about tonight! The June and July wools for the WOW members are ready to go and tobacco stick trees are restocked! I've put a quick note about the fireworks out at the fairgrounds below...in case you're still looking for someplace to go on Monday!

**The City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation along with the NC State Fair will have their annual fireworks display at 9:45pm on Monday the 4th!
Gates open at 5pm...free admission and parking...and there will be tons of activities to keep everyone busy until the fireworks show at 9:45pm...food vendors will be out as well!

It's always a little scary when the UPS man backs his truck up into my driveway all the way to the garage...
You see....we have this "system"....if it's a little package, he stops out on the street, jumps out and runs up to the door...
If it's a few boxes, but nothing tooo heavy, then he pulls into the driveway and puts them on the porch...
But if it's a MAJOR haul....then he backs way down the drive and gets them really close to the garage!
Wednesday was the first major haul!

The first batch of Andover prints came in...woohoo! The first ten pictures are all from "Carolina"...fantastic colorway that goes with the Pumpkin Patch Plaids we already have at the shop SUPERBLY!! (We are talking awesome pumpkins, blacks, golds, and tans!!)

Also...back in stock...100% cotton osnaburg (great for any kind of stitching...), sandcastle, our CTR punchneedles in all three sizes, plus a plethera of "sewing needfuls"!

I THINK I'M IN OVERLOAD!!

AND...before I forget....we will have more of those great stick trees in the shop this weekend! Just a few are actually left that are not spoken for...don't get left out if you're really wanting one!

It's been one year since we began our WOW club...can you believe that???!!! Yea! We are finally home from our Market Trip to PA!! I thought I would post a few photographs of SOME of our findings You don't get to see the Halloween or Christmas goodies til later! (And I ran out of daylight before I could get everything snapped into a picture...)

We had to do a little creative packing at the hotel to get everything in the Suburban without letting the crushable stuff get crushed....but after everything came out onto the parking lot and then went back into the car...we slammed the door, made a pact that we weren't going to stop anywhere to shop on the way home and finally pulled into the driveway 8 hours later!

We picked us some awesome tobacco stick trees...great the way they are if you want to keep it simple or put one out in your garden to cultivate a vining trumpet vine on...$29.95 each. We're going to put one in the shop with one of our new autumn berry star vines on it...and maybe some little brown corded lights...wouldn't that look great out on your porch or screen room!( SOLD ALL WE HAD THIS WEEKEND...BUT WE HAVE 12 MORE COMING AND A LIST IS GOING!)

One of the antiques shop we went to yielded a fantastic little stool with orig. blue paint ($45) (SOLD), and the little tinware tin churn (missing its insides) would be a great little planter or put it in your kitchen and stash something in it...($38).SOLD

Awesome blue butt basket with navy paint..$48 (SOLD) and a LIBERTY sign for $22.95

I've had several girls ask for primitive wool roving for hair and beards....found some! I ran into a lady who raises sheep at the show...absolutely great wool roving for any primitive project..and it's already been washed and ready to use! It'll be in the shop this weekend!

We've got bolts of fabric coming in from Jo Morton's Annadale, Toasty, Carolina and Ravenwood lines...they MIGHT make it here by Friday...I'll let you know if they do!
Jo's new line...Sweet Emily...will be shipping in July...not sure of the exact date...but the entire line is coming! WOOHOO!!

I've had several inquiries about the bee skeps...here's the scoop...they are definitely made to go outside! And the guy who makes them said if you slather it up with buttermilk and put it in a shadier place, it will get all mossy! I think I might have to try that! Prices of the skeps are as follows...

Just a quickie this week! (updated Friday evening...)

Happy HOT Thursday to all! Today we are in the mid 90's with high humidity...this is just the first of June, right???

This will be a quick post this week! We leave for market on Saturday....yes, the shop will be open and with lots of great americana and new goodies...Susan, Nancy and Sharon will be taking turns holding down the fort while we go shop for antiques and new primitives for the shop! I'm not stopping til the back end of that Suburban is full!!

If you haven't seen the new line of American Spirit fabrics.... they are great! Nancy is going to make a model of the quilt that we have the free pattern for...can't wait to see it once she gets started!

And...we have ordered Jo Morton's new line...Sweet Emily...due to ship the first of next week! I don't have samples, but if you go on to Windham.com and click on the "What's New" tab at the top, you can scroll down and see the line! It is absolutely beautiful on fabric!

We also bought part of the Jo Morton's Annadale line, plus some great "fillers" from several of her other lines as well! New flannel plaids from Marcus Brothers will be coming in late August!

We got in the August issue of Early American Life....really good one this time! This is the issue with the Directory of Traditional Craftsmen in it...and there is a great article on American flags! $4.99 per copy...they won't last long!

Our cool wire trees (in all 3 sizes) have come in! I had time to get two of the sizes in the shop for this weekend...the small size is $9.95 and the medium size is $12.95. Great to leave out all year round and decorate for any season!

Like I said...just a quickie for now! Come see the girls this weekend...we have to make sure we keep them busy!!

Coming back in....we got another batch of the solar lid lights for the mason jars! These actually make pretty cool night lights in your house as well! Well....as you can see by the stacks of bolts on my front porch...we received the line of "American Spirit" WOOHOO! They'll be in the shop this weekend!

(I was trying to catch a picture of that pesky hummingbird that kept buzzing me while I was unpacking the fabric...I think I missed him!!)

Also...we got back in (sold out last weekend) some really wonderful paper-cut watercolor pictures...patriotic, of course! Several sizes and styles to choose from..I just snapped a picture of a few...

And the red,white & blue bunting (in both sizes) have come back in...along with our little Betsy Ross patriotic flags!

Is it HOT or WHAT??? (Updated Friday night)

Oh my gosh...I went to dinner last night...when I came home, the house was at 85 degrees and the air conditioner was blowing HOT air! Oh great, now what!??!! My A/C guy can't get here until Wednesday and Lucy is already panting at 10:00 in the morning! I remember every summer as a kid going to Grandpa's house in East Texas...he didn't have air conditioning and I never thought I was hot...but we went to go get snowcones 3 times a day! OMG, I just figured it out! All I need is a snowcone!

Goodies are beginning to pour in the door this week........

For those of you asking for the solar light lids that fit the mason jars, our order came in and they will be in the shop this weekend! They fit all standard size mason jars...come on at night & go off a daybreak...$11.95 each.

2" and 4" charming lights are back in stock...available in 4 base colors...black, barn red, navy blue, and hunter green...$12.95 for the 2" and $14.95 for the 4" styles.

Very cool tobacco stick stars...36" across...made from great old REAL tobacco sticks...$15 each

Also, the pumpkin patch plaids from Andover arrived...well 8 of the 12 did...and I just found out that they have completely run out of goods and the other 4 won't show up until at least late August...so I'm not even sure if we will get them at this point! But the 8 that did come in ARE GREAT! I'll post pictures of those tomorrow, I've already been taking cutting orders for these! Our primitive keeping cloth arrived...several colors to choose from....these are great to drape across your favorite old cupboard or mantel, use as window valance or a tablerunner on your old farm table...there's no end to what I could find to do with these! Each one is approx. 72" long x 36" wide, hand dyed and stenciled with stars. $17.95 each...

Shawn got home from PA early early Thursday morning...lots of great antique pieces coming in this weekend..some for only one weekend!

Great PA cake crock...really nice larger size with original matching lid...currently on hold.

2 really large great old baskets...one is an oak apple orchard basket, the other is large field/harvest basket made of oak & ash splint with metal reinforcements. Both are about circa 1900...$125 each

Circa 1830-1850 "bamboo" windsor chair...bright robins egg blue paint on top of many older layers of paint..this paint appears to be at least 60-80 years old...hand-hewn plank bottom seat with hand turned legs and runners...most likely from PA...$65.00

Circa 1830-1850 PA doughbox. Fine dovetail construction composed of pine and poplar boards with it's original lid. Great for display on a country harvest table...$150.00

Really nice larger sized cutlery/tool tote in old green original paint. Dates to about 1880-1890...$150.00

Awesome ca. 1900 "Pure Honey for Sale" trade sign. Extremely rare with highly desireable color scheme and subject matter! (Will not last long in the shop as after this weekend, it goes home in our personal collection!) $295.00

Rare ca. 1770-1800 Burl Wood Bowl. Excellent size and proportion with incised rim and tight burl pattern. Most likely Elm burl with rich honey colored patina. Also, one weekend only...$695.00.

Ca.1810-1830 Double Grease "Betty" lamp. All original adn rare configuration. This lamp is made from heavy gauge tin and features a decorative fan motif. These are almost always made from iron and it is extremely uncommon to find tin ones intact. Plus, it still has its' original wick tool! From the personal collection of a past president of the American Rush Light Club. $595.00

Great ca. 1830-1850 wallbox with square nail construction and traces of old green paint...$195.00

Extremely rare and unusual TALL Hogscraper Candlestick. Circa 1830-1860, this hogscraper is all original and measures almost 16" tall! We have never seen one like this before and have not been able to find another one in any of our reference materials.This might possibly be a one-of-a-kind made piece...$395.00

Awesome Americana country store advertising box featuring Uncle Sam and an American Eagle. My guess this box dates to 1876 due to the Patriotic theme and box construction. A super piece to add to any Americana collection! $275.00

We have actually 2 pairs of mid 19th century brass push-up candlesticks for sale. Priced to sell at at $49.95 for the pair pictured, and $29.95 for the pair not pictured...which are just a little shorter than the pair shown.

Tin ABC plate...$7.95

One weekend only in the shop...VERY RARE PA. show towel! Profusely decorated, signed and dated. One a scale of 1 to 10...this towel is a solid 8+ in rarity. These show towels were done in the same manner as a sampler, and were often not only decorated by a young girl, but woven by her as well. It is very rare to find one signed and dated...and the heart themed decoration is the frosting on the cake! Comparable show towels have sold at auction for over $1,000. $795.00 firm.

Happy Saturday to all....did anybody miss the friday update?? I wish I had lots to report this week...but it seems that everything wonderful and new isn't going to be here until next weekend....so I'm sure I'll be overloading everyone with information starting Tuesday!

We did receive our copies of "A Primitive Place" Magazine! If you don't live anywhere close to us, I put a few copies on our ebay listings that can be bought.(You can access our ebay from the right hand side bar) Plus I have copies left for the shop...we've sold about 1/2 of our order already....so they are going fast!!

The "Got to be NC Festival" is this weekend....runs through Sunday. If you have kids and are looking for something fun to do that's mostly free...this is the festival for you! It's like a miniature version of our State Fair! Just wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to look for a parking place!

New Goodies for the weekend....

This week has been such a mess....dying like crazy trying to get kits finished and out to my customers who are patiently waiting...dealing with a couple of issues on my mom's house so we can close on time...the road out in front of my house is a muddy mess from the turn lane being put in and my mail lady has been off work for 3 days and my outgoing mail is piling up! It's a good thing I'm not much of a drinker!

I'm stopping just long enough to put a few pictures up....these are new patterns in for this weekend...

First is a cute wool quilt wall hanging called "Oh, To Dance with Flowers"...approx. size is 23" x 38"...not a bad size at all! This has great possibilites for lots of small projects if you're not of a mind to do a quilt project! $9.95 for the pattern (WOW price is $8.95)

Next, we have two new cross stitch patterns..."Two Hares Marking Sampler Sewing Box" and "Treasured Blossoms Pinkeeps". Both patterns are $9.95 each...($8.95 for the WOW members). I have a wonderful sample of the "Friend" pinkeep...there is a wonderful little pocket on the back where you can put your scissors and thread! These projects use 32 ct. linen for the bunnies and 28 ct. linen for the pinkeep. I'm pretty sure I have exactly what is needed...if I do, I'll be kitting these projects up with everything you need!

I re-ordered the "Civil War Sewing Circle" book by Kathleen Tracy. We sold out of these really quickly when they first arrived...I've just now been able to get them back in. I only have a couple of copies...if anyone wants one, let me know! Book price is $24.99 (WOW price is $22.50)

I'm bringing in a few great "finds" this week...a 2007(limited edition) Rowe pottery bird feeder for $25.00, a great little OLD blue swirl small sized (but deep) "dish pan" for $15, and a great candle sconce with mirror back for $30. If I can get pictures later tonight, I'll put up a "group shot" so you all can see what they look like!

Coming soon...Andover fabrics has produced a great new line of woven homespuns called "Pumpkin Patch Plaids"...we have ordered 9 of the 12 available and they should be here towards the end of May! Perfect for those fall projects! (Is it too early to start thinking fall???)

Hello to all....time for a quick update before I get back to dying wool....
Hopefully today finds you save and sound...awful storms around here today....part of that system that went through Alabama. We were fortunate however....no terrible tornados like we had two weeks ago.

We just received a call from Judy Condon...her new book, "The Spirit of Country" will be shipping in two weeks! I am taking a list of names now for those of you would definitely want a copy when they arrive....so if you are wanting one, just let me know! (I already know who some of you are!!) Just got home from spending all day at the big Liberty Antique show here in Liberty, NC....
Here's a pic of the goodies coming into the shop this weekend! (A couple of pieces will only be at the shop until Sunday if they don't sell...then they are coming home with us! We have a rule...everything we buy has to go into the shop for at least one weekend no matter why we bought it!)

1) Rare 1 gallon size, 3 stripe southwestern PA preserve crock...excellent condition...there is a very old and very tight hairline crack in the back...$150.00

2)Large circa 1830-1880 dry measure...measures 14" in diameter and about 8" tall....great square nails and heavy construction...$45

3) 4 gallon cobalt decorated crock...most likely Ohio or surrounding area...very old tight hairline which is hard to see....great size and price to be able to add to your crock collection without spending a fortune! $65.00

4)2 gallon Gardiner Stoneware salt glazed crock with rare incised swan decoration...from Maine...circa 1870-1880...excellent condition...$120.00

5)One Weekend only...extremely rare and highly desirable 6 gallon S. Hart, Fulton NY, double bird crock. Beautiful condition...12 1/2" high...$895.00 (Went home in our collection)

6) Beautiful antique sampler...looks to be done on silk...double alphabet along with a verse...signed by Mary Crofsman, age 11, and dated 1812. Wonderful strawberry border and little animals placed along side the saying...excellent condition! $750.00

8) Nice old rolling pin...I can't resist them! $15.00

9) One Weekend only...extremely rare wide brimmed pewter plate...circa 1650-1680...honestly, the best piece of early pewter we've ever bought! (After this weekend, this plate is going home to live with us if we don't sell it!) Excellent condition and maker's mark...$450.00 (GONE)

10) Sweet little round tin box...it has some nice age to it and great tole decoration on top and around the side...$30

11) Unusually small sized pantry box with original green paint and early cut tacks...6" in diameter...would make a great "top of the stack" piece...$120.00 (SOLD)

After I took the picture, I realized we had left a couple of things out...so we'll bring them in next weekend! I'm pooped....time for bed and start again tomorrow!

I had a great (used) rug hooking book come in..."Rug Hooking" by Ann Davies and Emma Tennant...lots of really great patterns in this one...including a couple of Polly Minick patterns and a fantastic bird & pomegranate rug adapted from an Edyth O'neill pattern. This is an OOP book and priced to sell fast at $9!! Give me a shout if you need it! (Sorry, it is now sold)

Can you believe Easter is almost here and it's nearly the month of May?? I think the older I get, the more time flies by and I don't seem to get as much done...either for the shop or for myself...

Thankfully, the weather is going to be lovely this weekend and we will be having our Easter/Spring sale at the shop! Everyone who comes in and makes a purchase will be able to pick an egg from our easter basket to determine what their easter discount will be! We will be offering 10 - 30% discount savings on all purchases (excluding Johnston Benchworks furniture)!!

As I sit here waiting for the movers to arrive with things I packed up from mom's house...thought I better make good use of my time...here are some new things in the shop this weekend....

Two new Marcus Brother fabrics...they are slowly trickling in...these are from Civil War Centennial...$7.95 per yard (before the WOW discount if you are a member)...

Our Black Crow candle order came in...so we're restocked with some of the bestsellers, plus a few new scents as well (Garden Tyme, Hot Apple Pie are a couple of the new ones...)

Also, Shawn brought in an awesome table top paymasters desk. It needed a good paint job, so he painted it Olde Pewter over Lamp Black...turned out great! Late 1800's from PA...all pine with dovetail construction...$235.00

Busy day at the shop...lots of our good customers and friends came out to enjoy our weekend sale! Thank you so much for all your support!

The Fedex man left me two more bolts of fabric at my door this evening...these are from Marcus Brother's Nottingham Village line...$7.95 per yard (WOW price $7.15 per yard).

And I almost forgot...the April WOW wool is at the shop this weekend..."Easter Purple" is the color...I totally forgot to give it to any of the WOW girls that came in today...where was my head at anyway???

Finally Back!!

Hello to all....finally back from Texas! I hope this is it for a while...I'm starting to hate the thought of flying...on many different levels!

When I got home, there were a few new goodies that had come in! Everything will be in the shop this weekend...which right now looks to be really nice!

First, the new quilting/project magazine..."Primitive Quilts and Projects" came in! Great stuff yall! $9.95 per issue. As soon as I have a real chance to look through it, I'm sure there will be a few projects that we'll kit up! (Picture of the magazine is over on the side bar...)

Also...the new issue of Rug Hooking Magazine finally arrived! It has been traveling around trying to find us for a while now...(they had shipped to the wrong address).
Anyway...it's finally here...$9.95 per copy (WOW price is $7.95!!)

The June issue of Early American Life has arrived! I love antique baskets and there is a really good article in this issue on just that! $4.99 for the issue...

This great new pattern came in...called "Antique Buttermolds"...it makes a 57" square quilt project. I have the pattern now for sale ($11.95)...but when I have a little free time, I'm going to play with this a bit and perhaps kit it up come summer!They did it as wool applique on a fabric background...which I do like...what do yall think?

We've got a spectacular late 1800's child's rocking horse coming in too...he's a wooden dapple painted rocker horse on the red glider base which still has its' original gold stenciling. Original tapestry saddle still in very good shape. A great piece to put on top of an old hutch or in the center of a large farm table! $495.00 (SOLD)

The Valdani floss order arrived last week...we are well stocked! And Not Forgotten Farm's newest punchneedle pattern is here...very cute! (Picture is in the last post I think!)

A Short Week....

Thought I better start getting my updates done this week early...I'm leaving on Wednesday...just for a week...heading back to Texas to try and finish up a few things with my mom's estate...

Here's the "official cover" of the new magazine, Primitive Quilts and Projects, that is shipping out on March 31st!

I'm hoping they will be here by Saturday so that we can get them into the shop on Sunday...we'll see! I have a few copies still remaining that are not already spoken for...$9.95 for the issue (WOW discount applies!).

Where did this week go???

Oh my gosh....here it is Thursday and I haven't even posted one new thing this week for the shop! Well...I've got a bunch of things to show and tell...plus there will be more pictures of new shop stuff if I can remember to take the camera with me tomorrow!

First off...I'm dying wool so there will be some luscious new colors in the shop for the weekend! Plus I love when I can get new textures...and there are five of those coming in right now!

I'll have these cut into some of our wool garden size rolls for $1.50 each, plus there will be yardage on our shelves...

One of the new fabrics from "Old Glory" by Blue Hill fabrics came in...great blender and will go with all those good civil war blues and reds! The background is like a tan dyed muslin color...$7.95 per yard...(WOW price $7.15 per yard) (I think I just found the backing to my flag quilt that is hanging in the shop! WOOHOO!)

CUTE CUTE CUTE new wool applique pattern came in today...fun spring project...called "Nesting"...$8.95 for the pattern (WOW price $8.05).(I'm dying a stack of blues and greens that will be great for this!)

I ordered the cashel linen in flax and natural...both 28 count...for projects that we have in the shop using that linen...
Well, the flax was backordered, but the natural came in! For the life of me, I'd call this "flax"! Anyway....FANTASTIC color for some of the new Country Stitches patterns and any of the Stacy Nash patterns we have! This will definitely be a "keeper" in the shop! $8.00 per 1/8 yard cut...(WOW discount applies!)

OK girls, it's time to start making the list of those who definitely want a copy of the new primitive quilting magazine, "Primitive Quilts and Projects". We officially got charged for our initial order and they are shipping to us on March
31st. I'm not exactly sure if they will be here by Saturday, April 2nd, but I will let you know when they arrive! I have a somewhat limited supply and I know they won't last long...so if you want one for sure...email me and let me know! The issue is $9.95...WOW price will be $8.95! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

And the big news of the day...we pick up our Weeks Dye Works floss rack and ALL THE COLORS THEY MAKE tomorrow! Yep....we will now carry the entire line of Weeks Dye Works floss colors! So if you've had a hard time finding the colors you need in our area...especially after we lost two great cross stitch shops...we will now have them for you! Hello to all! I'm finally back from Texas....at least for a bit! I have to go back the first of April to tie up a few loose ends....my "laundry list" of things to do for the shop is getting longer by the minute! And let me tell yall...if anyone tries to email me and I don't respond real quick, it's because our internet service has been down since late Thursday! Apparently it's a North Carolina "thing" because everytime I call to report it, I get one of those automated messages telling me they know the service is down so don't leave a message! I had to bring the computer to the shop just to be able to get on and do this little update! UGH!

A couple of quick pictures of things that will be in next weekend...

Blackbird Design's new book....A Stitcher's Journey....52 pages with 16 projects... $26.95 for the book (WOW price is $24.25).

We received another shipment of the Spring issue of A Primitive Place Magazine!! (Picture of it is over on the right hand sidebar...) So if you are still needing a copy....come on down!

A new pattern from Country Stitches will be here as well..."Bunny Tails"! Three great Spring projects all in one pattern...as soon as I can get my hands on it, I'll make some kits on the wool bunny project! $17.95 for the pattern...(WOW price $16.15)

If you didn't see the three new patterns from Notforgotten Farm...they are pictured in the blog post right under this one...they are in the shop now and oh-my-gosh-cute!

The next Maiden (Annabell) from the Down the Maiden's Path BOM is ready to go! If you are on the list to get them all, chances are...you have received an email from me letting you know that the kits are ready! If we ship yours to you, they are starting to ship today, Friday, March 18th.

Also, the April Maiden pattern, Daisy, is ready and will be in the shop as well this weekend. So if you are needing a pattern only, you can pick one up! (Daisy in a kit won't be ready until April.)

I'm telling ya...I need a 50 hour day to do all the projects I want to do right now!

(Friday evening)

One last quick post...just got back from the shop...took in two great antique furniture pieces...a great mid 1800's scrub top table...32" square with great blue paint on the tapered legs and a very cool 1840's cupboard top with original blue-grey paint. (Totally forget the camera...so no pictures to show them off.)

Also some really sweet Easter and Spring goodies...some chenille eggs to fill a basket with, wool chick and pussywillow pillows, pastel ornaments to adorn a special feather tree. Plus lots more coming!

Heading To Houston (updated Wed. night)

Just a quick and final note on the blog this week...I've had an ongoing medical emergency since about the end of October with mom who lives down near Houston...things have taken a turn for the worse...so I'm heading there tomorrow and will be out of the shop for a couple of weeks or so....Susan Havens will help run the shop with Shawn while I am gone...between the two of them, they'll have everything under control!

The Maiden kits are all in the mail or at the shop to be picked up....
Settler's Pride girls, you'll get your first border kit shortly after I return.

My rug, sad to say, will be sitting on the frame waiting for my return as well...it's just toooo big to take with me!

Until I return...have a great weekend coming up and come see all the new patterns in the shop this weekend!

It's Never too Early to Talk about Spring!!

So my thinking is....if you talk about something long enough....it'll just be here before you know it! So let's talk more "Spring" this week! Can't believe it's the end of the week already! I can't get enough done from Monday -Thursday without having a "panic attack" Friday! I'll be up all hours tonight trying to finish various kits/goodies needing to make it into the shop for tomorrow! Yikes!

Denise just started working on this rug...slowly but surely she was able to get a little done in between all the stuff she had to do at work!

We went this evening...and came home with about 40 really great books! Starting tomorrow all the hardback books will be $2 and all paper-back books are $1!

Shawn finished a great smaller sized wall mounted bowl rack and we took that in...(forgot to take the camera with me today)...painted in black milk paint and distressed. It looks great and holds the smaller to medium sized bowls. $125.00

(Sunday update)

When we got home last night the new Spring Issue of A Simple Life magazine was on the porch...so it's in the shop today! Great stuff in there!

Well...as I said in my rug watchers update...I'd do a happy dance when the border was done...and it got done at 1:15a this morning...so it's Happy Dance Friday!
However, unlike the groundhog, who predicted an early Spring this year.... this hooker is predicting 6 more weeks of hooking before this rug is finished!

The Year of the Bunny....I love bunnies!

This morning as I was catching up on emails and I saw the article that today is the first day of the Chinese New Year...it's the year of the Bunny! Hmmmm, I may have to do a few special projects throughout the year to celebrate! But for now....back to business....

Just Arrived!! Judy Condon's newest book..."Simply Country Gardens". This is the first book strickly devoted to outdoor gardens! Nothing but 144 pages of great color pictures to make you want to get out in the dirt and dig and sing! $24.95 for the book (WOW price $22.45)...only a few copies not spoken for....they'll be in the shop this weekend!

I have some more wool for sale...cheap! I did have a big ol' pile on Monday, but then Sharon (with Liberty Rose) came over and most of it ended up in her car...heading to her house to be dyed, dried and used in future classes! Sometimes it pays to be just in the right place at the right time!!
Anyway...if anyone wants any of these...email me and I'll put your name on it til you can come and get it! (Or don't forget, I can mail!)

Micro check in great shades of lavender/purple/blue. I have 2/3 yard left for $5.28... This is a bit on the "thin" side...hookable (though it wouldn't be my first choice) and definitely great for applique or background! (GONE)

Great purple...actually goes nicely with the one above...I have 1/2 yard total left for $4. Washes up beautifully...great to hook with. If you are a dyer..great to throw blues and other purple formulas over...(GONE)

There is also a bunch of wool I'm taking in and bundling cheap...great pieces to dye tons of colors over...all out of my stash...you'll have to come in and see what's there!

Now to switch gears...the two books, "Remembering Adelia" and "The Civil War Sewing Circle" came in this week and will be in the shop this weekend (if I have any left!)

Thought I better get just a jump on updating the blog this week...I need to take a break from all the dying, hooking and cleaning of my studio!

I'm still pulling wool out to get rid of...here is this week's offerings at a cheap cheap price!

Great black and white houndstooth...washes up and dyes beautifully! Nice flannel weight that is perfect for applique or hooking. I have 2 3/4 yards total...$8 per yard. (Retail is $20/yard) ALL GONE!

This is a really nice Polly Minick wool...it's actually navy/cream. Perfect weight for hooking or applique...dyes great! I have 1 1/4 yards left...$9 per yard (this retails for $30/yard) ALL GONE

This is a Melton weight wool like what I sold last week...great gold...only 1 yard and I washed it at some point, so that's all done! $8 (Retails for $20) SOLD

Cute new stitchery pattern now at the shop...called "Spring Greetings"!(It's the picture at the top of the blog) Easy to do with not a lot of different stitches. The model was stitched on overdyed sandcastle...cute! Do we have any serious Rowe Pottery collectors out there? I have a great retired piece of Rowe pottery available...

The Bean Pot is from Rowe's 2004 Limited Edition group...done in an albany slip, it is a great piece featuring an acorn on the top of the lid. $175.00 (Definitely bigger than it looks in the picture here!)

And finally tonight...an update on "Rug Watchers"...if this had been Weight Watchers, I would have lost 20 lbs. this week! But, instead, I just got a whole lot done on my rug!! (My update picture is over on the side bar.) Sharon with Liberty Rose jumped in with me on this...pulled out an Uncle Sam project that has been sleeping in a basket somewhere up in her workroom for who knows how long...as you can see from her before and after pics...Sam now has pants on and a face and hands! He'll be hanging in no time!!

It's like Weight Watchers for rug hookers...

Updated Friday afternoon...

Before I moved here I started a hooked rug just for me...which I very seldom do because I just don't seem to have the time when there is so much that needs to be done for the shop. When I got here to NC, it all went into a big basket up in my work studio and there it has sat ever since! The other night I was sitting there in a daze looking at it...thinking...."this is nuts! I'm going to treat this project like Weight Wathers and get this thing done!" It's all about accountability, right?

SO...I brought it all down to the living room, sat it by my favorite chair and every day I am going to work on this rug and at the end of the week I'm going to post a picture of its progress...again, accountability! I though maybe if I have to show some progress each week, it will help keep me on track and I'll finally have a "me" rug that can go in the house!

So...here are the beginning pictures...

And if anyone would like to join my "Rug Watchers" group, we can send pictures to each other every week for encouragement and positive reinforcement!

Last weekend I had a laundry basket full of stuff that was out of my studio...selling it CHEAP! Needless to say, it only took a couple of hours and most of the stuff was off to new homes! I'm bringing in more this weekend...mostly 5 melton weight wools...red, cream, soldier blue, light golden/sage and a great dark green wool...all of these wools retail at $20 per yard.....I'm selling them for $8 a yard! The Melton weight wools are also great to dye over and make perfect backgrounds for penny rugs or if you do clothing, jackets and vests. Here are the colors so you can see...

Ok girls....yall wiped me out of the wool! Right now there is only 22" of red left!
